Demo Deal Details
Listen, I could go on and on about why you need a great sounding demo, but I'm not going to. If you're sending out sub-par sounding demos, the people receiving them think you're a sub-par artist. End of story. Why would anyone be interested in a sub-par artist?
I'm not saying a great sounding demo is a magic bullet (that would be a killer EP or LP), but if you're seriously looking to book shows and take steps in your career, a great demo is where to start.
At Bombsight, I take demo recording seriously. And I love it. I'll track you (or your whole band) live after I spend a good amount of time positioning and micing everyone in my live room. If we're not happy with the vocals, we can lay those down after instrumentation is done. Typically, the micing process and tracking (12 songs max) takes about four (4) to five (5) hours. Then I kick everyone out and get mixing. You should have a fully mixed and mastered demo in your hand the next day.

This is a track from a demo session I did with Cheap Girls at Inner Ear in Arlington, VA. Quick and dirty. I think we tracked for a few hours. They ended up getting signed to Rise Records off this session. And by that, I mean they got signed to Rise. I just like to think the demos had something to do with it

This was the first band demo I did at Bombsight. War Painted Horses. It was a real treat to record. Acoustic, mandolin, upright, and all three members sing. After I got mics set, I just let them go for it.

This was another quick and dirty demo session for a blues band called Chicken Shack. This was done in the guitar player's finished basement. Vocals done post. Great group of guys.
